The Bihar government provides monthly financial support to senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities under the Social Security Pension scheme. Following a 2025 revision, beneficiaries in all three categories now receive ₹1,100 per month. Eligible residents of Udakishunganj and Madhepura district can apply entirely online.

Eligibility and required documents

  • Old-age pension: Bihar residents aged 60 or above
  • Widow pension: women with a husband's death certificate, with relaxed age criteria
  • Disability pension: requires a disability certificate (40% or more) from a competent medical authority
  • All three require Aadhaar, a bank passbook, and residence proof

How to apply

Visit sspmis.bihar.gov.in, select the relevant pension scheme, register with your mobile number, and upload Aadhaar, bank details, and (if applicable) a medical certificate. The whole process takes about 10–15 minutes. Applications are verified at the block/panchayat level, and payments go directly to the beneficiary's bank account after approval.

Keep in mind: pension status can be checked anytime under "Search Online Beneficiary" on sspmis.bihar.gov.in. If payments haven't arrived for several months, check your bank account and Aadhaar linking first.
